The Relationships between Parent Attachment and Adolescent`s Sexual Behaviors -Focusing on the Mediation Effect of Depression, School Attachment, Self-Esteem-

|
This study examined to test the role of depression, school attachment, self-esteem as mediators in the parent attachment and sexual behaviors among middle school students. Subjects in this study consisted of 399 middle school students in Jeollabuk Do. SPSS 12.0, AMOS 5.0 program was used for the analysis. The results were as follows: First, female students showed more higher depression than male students and Male students showed more active sexual behaviors than female students. Also low economic status group showed lower parent attachment, school attachment and more higher depression and sexual behaviors. Second, parent attachment didn’t show the direct relationship to sexual behaviors. Third, depression, school attachment worked as mediators between parent attachment and sexual behaviors, but self-esteem didn’t work as mediators between parent attachment and sexual behaviors. The implications and limitations of these findings were discussed, and directions for future studies were also proposed.
